Well Visits for School-age kids
Preventative care is the cornerstone of being and staying healthy. Your child will need annual well child visits for school-age kids to make sure that she is staying healthy and growing on track. Now that your child is school-age, she will start taking more risks and becoming more independent. She will also start to show glimmers of what she may be like as an adult.
As exciting as this is to watch, monitoring her health and wellness closely will help you set her up for success. Talk to Dr. Moemeka, your trusted Coppell pediatrician, today about how well visits for school-age kids can help your child stay healthy.
What can I expect?
At Mark9 Pediatrics, we believe in making healthy easy for children, and our well child visits are focused on preventative health and setting your child and your family up for success.
Every well child exam includes:
- Growth assessment
- Developmental assessment
- Physical exam
- Nutritional assessment
- Emotional health assessment
- Vaccinations (when necessary)
As your child grows up, she will have different needs and different health risks. At age 11, Dr. Moemeka will start to talk to you and your child about speaking with her alone. You do not have to consent to this until she is 13, but Dr. Moemeka encourages it at age 11.
Why does my child need annual well visits?
Annual well visits allow Dr. Moemeka to track your child’s health as she grows up, leaving her better equipped to handle any illness that may arise and predict potential health problems.
With everything from assessments about growth and development to nutritional advice, well child visits are intended to give you and your family the knowledge and peace of mind to maintain a healthy state of being well into adulthood.
What is something is wrong?
If Dr. Moemeka detects anything concerning during your child’s visit, she will take appropriate tests and schedule any necessary follow-up exams. Additionally, she will develop a care plan for your child, even if that means working in concert with other specialists. At Mark9 Pediatrics, we want you and your child to feel welcomed, invited, and listened to, and if there is anything concerning, we want you to know that we are a safe resource for whatever your family needs.
If your child is due for her well visit, call Mark9 Pediatrics today at (972) 325-2005 or request an appointment online to schedule one.
