Some infant conditions you may encounter
Birth defects are quite common. In fact, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, birth defects occur in 1 out of every 33 babies born. Although they’re called birth defects, not all of them are present at birth.
The majority of birth defects are determined in the first trimester of pregnancy, and many of them don’t have a clear cause. However, Dr. Moemeka can work with you and your baby to manage any symptoms and maintain health and wellness.
Chickenpox causes an itchy rash that is accompanied by blisters. This highly-contagious disease is preventable with a vaccine, and since it can be very serious, we strongly encourage parents to take preventative action to avoid the contraction of chickenpox.
If your child is not protected against chickenpox or is having complications from chickenpox, call Dr. Moemeka today.
Hand, Foot, and Mouth Disease
Hand, foot, and mouth disease is a contagious viral infection that causes a fever, sore throat, decreased appetite, a rash, and painful sores. While some children will only experience mild symptoms, some cases can be severe and require medical attention. If you think your child has hand, foot, and mouth disease, call Dr. Moemeka to talk about keeping your child and your community healthy while your infant is contagious or ill.
